Energy and climate change forum
The need to devise a market orientated solution to solve the problem of climate change is an issue whose time has come.
How can policymakers make informed decisions that reflect current best practices in the energy and environment sectors as well as taking steps to ensure the security and diversity of energy supply? It is clear that current market conditions are creating opportunities for developing new sectors of the economy.
While the government shouldn't be picking winners in the market, it can play a dynamic role in setting out the conditions for the clean energy economy.
Key questions:
-
What can the government do to decarbonise the economy?
-
How can partnerships be formed between business, communities, local government and financial institutions?
-
What system of incentives can help to boost investment in clean energy?
-
How can the principles of consumer democracy be put to use in providing citizens with an active role in the energy transition?
-
How can market actors position themselves as climate advocates and promote solutions rather than be seen as part of the problem?

Education forum
In a global economy the direction and shape of education policy is vital in determining the life opportunities and aspirations of Britain’s children and young people. The Government’s vision for a “world class education for all” is underpinned by a focus on academies and free schools, improving the standards of failing and coasting schools, building pupils’ character and resilience, and empowering the teaching profession.
This forum is an informal, fun and interactive place to discuss ideas and suggestions that relate to policy challenges such as:
-
How can the Government encourage academies to better contribute to the improvement of existing school networks?
-
How can the state school sector can learn from what works in the independent sector?
-
How can the Government support parents to create an enriching home learning environment and build a high-quality pre-school education system?
Come and join us at our next Think Forum for a drink or two... do feel free to suggest discussion topics.

Britain's Role in Europe
This Think Forum will bring together politicians, international relations specialists, lawyers, economists, industrialists and others to examine how to further the UK’s and the EU/EFTA’s mutual interests in free trade, and to undertake that examination in the broader context of the UK’s place in Europe politically, culturally and socially, as well as economically.
Post-Brexit, how can the UK play a positive role in building an economically successful, diverse and entrepreneurial Europe that stands for freedom and opportunity, and is a force for good in the wider world?
To get a flavour for the new think forum and its aims, you can read this article from Centre Write which was been written to coincide with the launch of the Europe forum
