Damian is Minister of State for Policing and Criminal Justice, a vice-president of the Tory Reform Group and an advisory board member of Bright Blue.

Amber Rudd is Member of Parliament for Hastings and Rye and entered parliament at the 2010 election. Before becoming an MP she was an investment banker and venture capitalist focussing on small businesses before moving into recruitment and writing.
In 2012 she was appointed the new Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) to George Osborne, Chancellor of the Exchequer.

Shaun Bailey was the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Hammersmith in the 2010 General Election. He is currently a Special Adviser on Youth and Crime in Number 10 Downing Street. He co-founded the charity My Generation, which supports disadvantaged young people.

Keynote speech by the Rt Hon David Laws MP
The Rt Hon David Laws MP delivered a keynote speech to Bright Blue on "The future of the Coalition".
David was one of the Liberal Democrat team of four who negotiated the Coalition Agreement with the Conservative Party in May 2010, and he then served briefly as Chief Secretary to the Treasury. David is Co-Editor of the influential "Orange Book" (2004), which sought to re-establish his Party's liberal policy traditions. In 2010 he authored "22 Days in May", which is an insider account of the talks which led to the formation of the Coalition Government.

How can the private sector help the Big Society abroad?
The Coalition Government is keen for private businesses to flourish in some of the poorest countries in the world: a private sector unit has recently been established in the Department for International Development (DfID), with the intention of private enterprise being in the DNA of DfID. This event attempted to debate what positive role businesses can play in supporting development internationally.
